visualize/measure LiDAR spot shape/size on a wall

Postby Peter3000 » Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:17 pm

Hey,

it was very interesting to read your article "LIDAR (Laser Scanner) Review Comparisons" David, especially the point "Spot Size Comparison".

At the moment I compare a SICK LMS511 PRO and a Pepperl & Fuchs R2000. I want to visualize/measure the spot shape/size on a wall. I was wondering what the best camera or method is to do this? (Nightshot/Thermal imaging/...) Would be great if you can help me with this.

Cheers,
Peter

You need a camera with no IR filter. Nightshot camera would probably work, but it will be camera specific. Also you will want to make sure that the room is dark.

On standard point and shoot cameras you can sometimes remove the IR filter that is on the lens.
